Hello & Welcome to the Nantahala Forest and Nantahala Glamping

THIS IS THE RED DOME #1

Many years in the making, our goal is to provide you with the best glamping experience in the Nantahala forest.

We strive to provide as many amenities as could reasonably be expected plus a few more.
The unit has a queen bed, a pull out queen Murphy bed, love seat, well equipped kitchenette, toilet, vanity and shower.

NO pets and NO smoking inside the unit. A good time is required!

We do want to provide some basic information and that's included on the following pages.

We sincerely hope you enjoy your stay whether it be for one night or 30.

WHERE WE ARE

We are in the middle of the Nantahala National Forest. Part of the Smoky Mountains. The property is on Otter Creek. The main theme here is to “get away” yet still be able to enjoy all the area has to offer.

On the ride to your dome you will follow Wayah Rd. along the Nantahala River Gorge with its many turns, rapids and waterfalls.

Some of the best attractions in the area are whitewater rafting and kayaking on the Nantahala River, trout fishing in several area creeks, rivers and lakes, driving the many scenic roadways including the Blue Ridge Parkway and the “Tail of the Dragon”.

The mountains are quite unbelievably beautiful in the fall!

We are 10 minutes to Lake Nantahala where you can rent a boat and spend the day on one of the most pristine lakes in the area.

We are 5 minutes to the Appalachian Trail.

HOW TO USE THE KEYLESS ENTRY

The entry lock is a deadbolt. It's completely manual so no issues with internet or batteries. To unlock press the code provided and turn the knob to “unlock” (clockwise). Then use the lever to open the door. If you're just going outside you can simply close the door and it will NOT lock. If you're leaving for the day, turn the knob to the “lock” position (counter clockwise).

Codes are changed for each stay.

Please lock the door on the day of your departure.

KITCHENETTE AND CRUMBS

Please do not leave crumbs or uncovered food in the unit or on the deck for extended periods of time.

This can and will attract critters. Our kitchen is well equipped for the gourmet chef. Feel free to get creative with the amenities. Should you find ANYTHING broken or not working please let us know so we can get it fixed or replaced ASAP. If you don't tell us we won't know to replace it for the next guest.

BEDROOMS

Please use the luggage racks for you luggage. It helps to keep the bed linens and love seat from soiling.

Do NOT sit on the luggage racks. They are not strong enough to support your weight.

TV AND INTERNET

At this time we do not have TV. This is by design. Back in the day they called it the boob tube. The internet is via Star-link satellite. The network is nantahalaglamping. Password provided to registered guests.

TEMPERATURE CONTROLS

Our domes are very well insulated so it doesn't take much to heat or cool. The control is a remote on the wall holder. The ceiling fan/light is operated by the remote control.

FIREPLACE

The fireplace is electric. There are 3 settings; No heat, Low heat and High heat. Make sure the power switch on the unit is on. It takes a little time for the receiver to respond to the transmitter. Do NOT press the buttons more than once within 2 seconds. Press the on/off button once to turn on the unit.Press the low or high heat button once for heat, press twice to turn off heat. Press the dimmer button to operate the dimmer mode. Repeat pressing will raise and lower the brightness.

WINDOWS AND SKYLIGHT

The 3 lower slider windows are operable. Please ensure they are closed when you are not in the dome.

The skylight can be opened. The remote is mounted to the end of the wall between the bedroom and kitchen. To open press the up arrow once. It's very slow to move so don't continue to press. It has an auto close feature in the event of rain.

Toilet

We are on a very sophisticated and sensitive septic system. PLEASE DO NOT FLUSH THINGS
THAT SHOULDN'T BE FLUSHED. We have included various toiletries that you may need and
perhaps have neglected to bring. These items are here if you need them and you are welcome to them.

EMERGENCY

Please make sure your cell phone has wi-fi calling enabled as there is NO cell service in this part of the mountains. For any medical emergency dial 911. For fire dial 911 AFTER exiting the unit, and then call us. There is a fire extinguisher in the kitchen. There is also a smoke alarm as well as a first aid kit.

Ingles Market

This is the best grocery within an hour. Pretty much has it all including a Starbucks. This is a bit more of a drive over the mountain on a VERY windy road. That said Franklin is one of those quaint little mountain towns you want to visit.

POWER OUTAGE

There is usually no reason to call the power company if the power goes out. They know when it's out and they are pretty fast at getting it restored. If you feel you want to call it's fine.
